NCHE Fund Returns $2,000,000 to Members

The North Carolina Hospital Association’s Workers’ Compensation Fund recently reached several significant milestones.  Originally formed in October 1993, the Fund celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.  The Fund is pleased to announce a $2,000,000 surplus distribution to its eligible current members.  This distribution follows a return of $4,000,000 in capital payments and interest.

Board Chairman Mike Stevenson cites several reasons why “it is a privilege to be a member of the Fund.  They include its common purpose, ability to self-govern, and member-focused risk management services.”  It also pays to be a member of the Fund – demonstrated by repayment of capital, declaration of surplus distributions, and the third year of providing a Patient Lift Grant, officering a choice of up to $6,000 value for selected lift devices to all members who renew or join the Fund in 2014.

Georgia Hospital Association Workers’ Compensation Fund Dividend

At the December 2012 GHA WCF Board meeting, a dividend of $1,560,000 was declared.  This dividend was the result of favorable experience in the years 2005, 2007 and 2008.  This distribution results in member premium offsets in 2014.

We anticipate an additional dividend will be paid based upon favorable results in 2013.  This declaration will reduce members 2015 premiums.  Since the Fund’s inception, dividends declared total $29,251,200.
